We are sad to report that after nearly 5 years in the job, the Curator of the Museum, me, will be leaving my position on 17th September to take up a curatorial post elsewhere.
This marks the end of an era at the RAPTC Museum, one in which large strides have been taken to modernise the museum, improve the collection and better engage with the community. It has seen the complete inventory and cataloguing of the collection, the redevelopment of the exhibition gallery and the creation of greater digital resources, including this website.
Speaking personally, I will be sad to leave behind the RAPTC Museum and indeed the Corps itself, and wish it all the best for the future.
A new Curator is likely to be in post in the next month which itself will bring a fresh approach, fresh ideas and no doubt the continued improvement of the Museum. Until that appointment however, the Museum will unavoidably remain closed.
This then will be my last blog post, and I will close by thanking you, the reader, and urging you to visit the Museum itself and seeing the history and development of what is a fascinating but little understood subject, army physical training.
