Royal Army Physical Training Corps Museum

History of the Museum

The RAPTC Museum was founded in 1953 in order to showcase the work and accomplishments of the Corps, then nearly a century old. Since then the Museum has existed in several sites on the Army School of Physical Training in Aldershot. It moved to its present site in the old Henslow fencing room in 2012.

Through interactive and static displays, the Museum shows how physical training in the British Army has advanced from the first organised lessons to modern concepts of fitness, health and exercise. It aims to provide a fun and engaging experience for both the layman and those with ties to the Corps.

Residing at the home of the RAPTC, the Museum maintains close ties with the Corps of today and displays many of the trophies awarded each year to its members
