The digital Museum

The Museum has been glad to welcome AAPTIs and RAPTC Probationers back for their guided sessions over the last weeks. Unfortunately the location of the Museum within the ASPT means that we are not likely to open to the public for the foreseeable future.

We are adjusting to this reality by looking at digital ways of engaging with the public. The RAPTC Museum Facebook site ( ) remains a great place to keep up to date with the Museum and we have tried to expand this in recent times by launching a new programme of quizzes and other interactive features.

We are also looking at modernizing the Museum website so as to have the capability of including features such as a digital walkthrough, including 3D representations of key objects. This will allow people to make a virtual tour of the Museum until such time as we are able to reopen to physical visitors. We are currently in the process of applying for grants to raise funds for this with the hope of it coming into being in November.

We are also looking forward to 2021 with the belated launch of our new schools assault course session, held jointly with the Aldershot Military Museum and incorporating their new WW2 children's assault course. This was due to launch this summer but was of course delayed with the Covid lockdown. This will feature sessions at both the RAPTC and AMM revolving around fitness and suitable for Key stage 2 as well as similarly aged youth groups. We are all looking forward to this finally happening and more information will be posted over the coming months.

Until then, keep engaging digitally with us and we hope to see you all again in the flesh soon!
